Wedding Bells

BITING THE APPLE
X
Welcome to the new Wedding Destination of the world!

Here's a loving couple traipsing away from the new Wedding Palace in NYC. A Chapel was created to increase the number of couples who marry at the City Clerk's office.

For a $25. fee, couples can be married in a lavish hall, decorated with chandeliers and marble columns. There is hope at the Mayor's office that the increase of weddings will supplement the diminishing tourist dollars.

Things you can buy, just in case nerves have made you forgetful:

An elastic faux-diamond band for $9.

Flowers? from $4. to $50 for a bouquet.

Hairspray-$4.

Disposable digital camera- $16.25

Tissues- $1.75, in case you'll tear up.

Unfortunately, there isn't an Elvis Chapel. But there's a rumor going round that Mayor Michael Bloomberg is being fitted for a white satin, gold spangled jacket.

The first Bride to be married in the new Chapel said, " This place is really lavish".

The first Groom said, "It's really romantic to me".

Las Vegas- Watch Out!

Survivor

Today is the 16th year that I've survived
the Breast Cancer Inquisition.
With gratitude, I salute us all who have
been there. We who can, keep going on.

And those who've died of Breast Cancer,
your price was too high.

Bless us all.

This is an excerpt from a poem in "Two Ghosts".
I wrote it for strength, for peace within.
For dear ones similarly afflicted.

Amazons

....as surgeons cut through sterilized skin,
where scented petals once were pressed
by men who favor beauty.
What worm burrows in the unblemished
apple? What sings
in the white bones depths?........

....See it not as mutilation when
your right breast feels the burn,
but a legendary beauty etched forever
on the sacrificial plain.......

....Daughters, line up at my side
as we pull back on the bow
to shoot an arrow to the place
where death itself is slain......

Reiki

Reiki is an ancient system of healing with energy, healing with Chi. It is the laying on of hands.

Here is a variation of the five REIKI principles:

Just for today I will give thanks for my many blessings.

Just for today I will not worry.

Just for today I will not be angry.

Just for today I will do my work honestly.

Just for today I will be kind to my neighbor

and every living thing.

Just something to keep in mind even when I'm

not doing Reiki healing.

There was a time when Reiki, derived from Tibetan Buddhist practise, was preserved by the ancients and handed down in secrecy. That's changed in our time. Our planet, ourselves, are too much in need of healing to keep that secret any longer.

I liked this today from Beliefnet.com....

Life asks us to make measurable progress in reasonable time. That's why they make those fourth grade chairs so small- so you won't fit in them at age twenty- five.

Ritual

Just about
to have
my breakfast. Bagel/ cream cheese, coffee.
No brainer. Until I go to open the new package of cream
cheese. You know what's coming! Unless you live in a part
of the world that precludes this nerve wracking
self-flagellating ritual.
The big Philly guys have been manufacturing this tiny
torture chamber for lo, a couple of hundred years!
You'd think, wouldn't you? Simpler packaging?
x
If you've found a way to open this silver papered package
of cream cheese, without slashing, futile pulling, tearing,
please do a good deed and let me know the secret.
It's a bit too much to ask me to start the opening
process the night before. And it is totally unacceptable
for me to find cream cheese still under my fingernails at
4 o'clock in the afternoon.
x
Now, for breakfast.

Tea

Text by: Holly Lebowitz Rossi and Lilit Marcus

from: http://www.beliefnet/ .com

" TEA ISN'T A CASUAL DRINK, it requires the careful

choice of the best leaves, the patience to wait for water to

come to the right temperature, the knowledge of how long to
steep, and the time to let the wisps of steam warm your face as
you savor every sip. In places from Buddhist monasteries to
English parlors, tea has also long been recognized for its healing
properties, from the the antioxidants in green and white tea, to
the restorative properties of various herbal blends. "

What I like about the preparation,
is being a partner of tea.

Shall we?

ONCE, MAYBE A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO, I WAS

WATCHING THE FABULOUS GINGER ROGERS, (SHE BEING

THE ONE WHO DANCED BACKWARDS, IN HIGH HEELS),
x
dancing with the one and
x

only FRED ASTAIRE.

"FOLLOW THE FLEET" was playing on TV.
x

There was an early dusk outside, it being winter, and the only light was coming from the television. I was tapping out the rhythm, still seated but planning to rise and sweep around the room. The irresistible tapping, the gossamer glamour of Ginger captivated me. Fred's smile, tuxedo and immaculate precision were always in sync. It was so easy for me to become his partner.

I'd danced along with Fred since I was a kid.

I squinted at the screen because something odd seemed to be taking place. Ginger wasn't Ginger any more. Without any doubt in my mind, and thrillingly puzzled, I found Fred's partner to be me! Absolutely not a halucination. I don't mean that I shape shifted onto the screen and could actually touch him. Oh, no, it was me, truly captured on film. I can see it forever. Fred's partner was me. The secret is that Ginger looks a bit like me, and vice versa. I didn't plan it, it's just a gift.

To this very day when I watch that movie, it's me. Not in the speaking parts, and not in the whole movie, but just in this one long shot. I bet if you squint, you might make it up to the silver screen too.

Dedicating this first day of the year to Fred and Ginger, (and me), is so much better than trying to keep my New Year's resolution.

Thanks Fred.
Thanks Ginger, and Happy New Year to all!!!

Buddha

MEDITATION
The greatest action is not conforming with the world's ways. The greatest effort is not concerned with results. The greatest meditation is a mind that lets go. The greatest wisdom is seeing through appearances.
