SUMMER DREAM/ Poetry Potluck #31

"THESE ARE A FEW of my favorite things..."  Can't get that song out of my head...although I sure will try so that I can get to POETRY POTLUCK #31.  And one of my favorites is....

SUMMER DREAM

Hum a tune to me, July,
brush a peach
a plum
a cherry
against my waiting lips.
I will share the taste
with the eager hummingbird.

Let honey drip
its coy sweetness
onto my finger tips.

Redbreasts and bees
alight on my hand,

as flowers come into bud
for summer's birth.

Engaging. It's making me look forward to July; but, I have to breath and enjoy now first!!!

Well done. Excellent entry into Potluck. I particularly love "Redbreasts and bees alight on myhand ... " :-) Summer! Soon it won't be a dream anymore.

Summertime with parades and sun,
Swimming, ice cream for everyone,
Bright flowers, rain drops on me,
Rainbows, and apples on a tree,
I like how you brought in the senses, the poem became tangible with no pretenses.

Sweet! You drew me in with the first of these, lightly brushing fruit against the lips, savoring its full flavor, sharing its abundance with the hummingbird.
