MAGPIE/ Prompt #69

photo/ tess kincaid/ Magpie Tales

WHAT A SEDUCTIVE SEA SHELL, I fell into its spell immediately..words just appeared!!  Thanks, Tess, for Mag #69!!

SIREN SONG

Bobbing on a wave,
sand grits my teeth
as I climb to the apex of the crest
and fall into a moving odyssey.

Carried ashore by Homer's fate,
one cupping hand
will set me at his ear,

listen to my siren song,
and when my message
is cold and spent,

place me gently
on a grain of sand
for time to rub my skin to dust.

I love the very stanza the best. It is the release or letting go that I find so perfect and you carry that theme through out your whole piece.

I couldn't find anything for this prompt, but I'm glad you did. It read to me like a special messenger shell, like an angel, and was rewarded with giving birth to a pearl. I my be way off, but it bent my mind that way. Very well written. The flow was easy. Loved your words, voice and line work.

Hi Henry-
I really liked the part of giving birth to a pearl..always like the sub-text that I didn't know about..and I think she is a spirit, an angel, a sprite...thanks so much for your visit.

Gorgeous, Lyn. Lovely words to compliment such a sublime creation. Shells hold a special fascination for me. I have quite a few specimens and I just love everything about them.

Lyn said...

Hi Deedee-
I know what you mean about a fascination for shells..a species from outer space, surely, so fanciful..thanks for dropping by...

Oh, very nice. The sea does call from shells. I think I need to go to the beach...
