CHOCLAT SIN #19

WHEN I WAS A KID IN THE CITY, IN THE SUMMERTIME, after supper, (we didn't call it dinner then) we ran out of the house to catch a breeze...AND...  We hung around, waiting for that sound, the bell on the truck, The Good Humor Man!  That was a sound of daily joy...that beckoned with frozen enticements.

Nowadays the bells are mostly silenced because someone in the crowd gets a headache from too much ding-a-ling.  But today, as usual, I'm ready to ring that bell!  Another Wednesday, another chocolate reward...bring that good humor on...Chocolate just keeps on giving!!

WHISKEY- HOT FUDGE SAUCE (gotcha!)

8 oz. unsweetened chocolate baking squares
1/2 cup butter
2 cups sugar
1 cup milk
3 tbls. Southern Comfort
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/8 tsp. salt

Melt chocolate and butter in a heavy saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly.  Add sugar, and cook, stirring constantly, until heated and sugar is dissolved (do not boil).  Remove from heat, stir in whiskey, vanilla, and salt.  Use immediately or cover and chill for up to 2 weeks.  To reheat, microwave sauce, at High, for 15/30 seconds, stirring, until warm.

Layer sauce into serving dish, add any flavor ice-cream, (everything works!), more sauce, sweetened whipped cream.  Top with sprinkles, for nostalgia's sake!  Ring that Bell!

X-rated!!

That sounds sooo tasty!!! I still hear the sounds of the ice cream truck, every hour on the hour until 11PM :( It gets disturbing lol...but when I was a kid...It was music to my ears :)

Hi JStar-

Mmm. X-rated, indeed! I have all the ingredients here, except the ice cream. Darn. I'm going to have to pick some up. We still call it supper in my neck of the woods.

Hi Willow-
Maybe you can just skip the ice cream..whiskey sauce on the rocks??
I'm going back to calling it supper..it sounds more real!!

You little sinner, you! Now we're at 19! We're being very good here; they're now saying that dark chocolate flavenoids act as antioxidants which benefit the heart! So we each have four little squares of Cadbury Old Gold dark chocolate - after dinner. :)

Hi Lyn,

I'm sure there must be a chocolate whisky liqueur in a bottle somewhere, for those of an impatient disposition!

Hi Alaine-
Of course health reasons are primary! Then comes taste..and getting hooked on Dark Chili Chocolate..it could be worse!!

Hi Derrick-
You must be right..I'll race you..
I think the liqueur with a dash of vodka, on the rocks can't be that bad either!!

A childhood memory mixed with chocolate. You're spoiling me! Chocolate on its own is great, but coupled with a memento, it's divine.

Many thanks.

Greetings from London.

Greetings to a Cuban-
To think of the years of indulgence that I missed out on, by not knowing the Choc/Chili combo! Well, one can't live in the past..
Thank you and enjoy!!
