MAGPIE... Prompt #104

THANKS TO TESS, at Magpie Tales.

DARE

I am born
in a bed of dares.

My used up incarnations
demand,
live again!

They lie entwined,
poor burnt out lives,
sticks of charcoal
in the looming hand
of the old master,

soon to be inspired
to draw a new enigma
around my soul.

I like that "lie entwined" - ooh, and the "sticks of charcoal" - very nice!

Bringing the soul into it just caps it off.

There is vehemence in this! (Read it three times.)

Oh gosh Lyn, this is so fresh and original! I love the opening lines,
'...born/ in a bed of dares.' And, I think this is the only poem I have read that shows the sameness and connection of the figures, rather than their difference. How very cool. Strong closing stanza too.
