Vampire Mom / Choclat Sin #21

VAMPIRE MOM

What's a vampire Mom to do?
Well, get some good blood today,
that's my priority.
Not as if the milkman
will leave a quart at the door.

I'm thinking ahead to a dark tomorrow,
maybe an eclipse
can shorten the daylight
so that silver edges bleed into night.

Pay attention!
When I say look, you look,
when I say run, you run,
when I say grab her,
you better listen.

And don't stay out too early.

What kind of stork brought you,
you ask?
A bird whose span covers the slit of dawn,
feathers tufted with ebony plumes.

Come out of your bed,
sleepyhead,
let's play a game
with archaic toys.
Place the Ouija board
on the edge of the slab
and urge a dark spirit
to come through to me.

Hark!  A troubled soul listens
when I open my beckoning arms
and say yes,
I know how to be your Mom.

Melted chocolate.  What did you think it was?
Just a bit of Choclat Sin.

Oh yeeeeesssss! This one rocked my world just now! It is lines like the following one that make fall for your poetry, dear:

'A bird whose span covers the slit of dawn,

feathers tufted with ebony plumes.'

There's so much symbology in there and yet it is so concisely collected. Last night I started the first draft for a post to come out in June as part of my 'Of Literature and Other Abstract Thoughts' regular column and it's examples like yours that I had in mind when I began to scribble on Word last night.

Many thanks. That was a yummy poem. :-) Blood and gore, nonetheless.

Greetings from London.

very good, lyn and sinister creepy!!! i had never thought about what goes through a vampire mom's head but they obviously encounter the same things we human moms do, minus the blood and demons, of course ;)
i was a little miffed that there wasn't any real chocolate to be found but i'll let it slide just this once! i never have found the lindt bar with chili...i dream about it but to no avail! guess i better google it, eh?

Hi sheri-
Thanks..you're right..very few folks think about what may be going on in a vampire Mom's mind..just wanted to clear it up..
Also will definitely get to the bottom of this plot to keep the chili chocolate away from you!
