UNFRAMED

UNFRAMED

The brass monkey
spilled wax
and just stood there
in total innocence.

Its flickering light
was cast upon
a photo of me, running.

Why is it still unframed?

Can torn and ragged edges
support it forever?

Is having an intention
not to fall
good enough?

Nice frame for the eternal questions, if you don't mind my piling on the metaphor.

Oh, wow. Wasn't expecting this, have no idea why. Your poem gives me a sense of indomitability, of rough edges that dare to defy the passing of time. This line, in particular, made smile:

'Can torn and ragged edges
support it forever?'

Good poetry makes you think. Yours surely did so and then a lot more. :-)

Many thanks.

Greetings from London.

Greetings to a Cuban-
Sometimes I don't know what I believe till I write a poem..
ragged edges and indomitability equal survival..
Thanks, always...

Lyn, so glad to find your blog! The poem has a tensile strength that I like, all the while seeming about to vanish from the page, float away beyond the frame--does that make sense?
Come visit me in my kitchen when you get the urge--I'll be posting more poems there.
K.

Hi Kathryn-
Thanks so much for visiting..I know exactly what you mean about floating past the frame..because practically everything I write is a little movie!
