Triolet

Triolet:
A one stanza poem of 8 lines. The 1st,
4th, and 7th lines are identical, as are
the 2nd and final lines, making the
initial and final couplets identical also.

Do you have to stand so close?
You know it makes me tense
When you strike a languid pose.
Do you have to stand so close?
Certainly you can pass me the rose
Not crowd me against the fence.
Do you have to stand so close?
You know it makes me tense.

This was really cute, especially paired with the picture. A good triolet like this is not so easy to write, you know.

Hi Kat-
Yes, do try it! I mostly like to have fun with it...can you tell?

Hi Willow-
Thank you..I took one look at that pic, and knew where it belonged! It's funny about intent, this poem could become what it's paired with.

interesting how some poems have rules like this - I wonder you decided that that is the correct way to write it!

Hello Lyn,

A lovely "simple" poem and the goats are cute! I may even have a go myself!

Happy Easter.

Jeane-
Several years ago I was in a workshop and the triolet was introduced. It's interesting to follow a form..you either do that, or why bother? I posted another one earlier..."Again". I wouldn't want to do this forever!!
