INSTANT FRIENDSHIP/ Poetry Potluck #42
THE TOPIC FOR THIS WEEK'S Poetry Potluck #42, is Siblings, Cousins and Friends. The form I chose for my poem, is the PANTOUM, a set of repetition of lines.
INSTANT FRIENDSHIP
A social butterfly alights
high on my cheek
and whispers a message of craving,
enticing as a gift.
High on my cheek
A Monarch seeks to persuade me,
enticing as a gift,
memories that have gone before.
A Monarch seeks to persuade me,
I need a friend indeed.
Memories that have gone before
bring out the lure of closeness.
I need a friend indeed,
he tells me all aflutter.
Bring out the lure of closeness,
now merely shadows and specters.
He tells me all aflutter
and whispers a message of craving.
Now merely shadows and specters,
a social butterfly alights.

I'm impressed, Lyn! The pantoum is a tough form to pull off. I read once that Joyce Carol Oates said penning a pantoum was almost like going mad. I've only written one.
GREAT job!
Beautifully done, Lyn.
I loved this!
Margie :)

Hi Bryce-
I love the Pantoum, and it does drive me crazy..I have to keep a road map when I write one...but I like that it has a life of its own!
