MAGPIE...Prompt #149
Image/ R.A.D. Stainforth
THANK YOU, Tess, at Magpie Tales. Thanks for all your creativity...Happy New Year, one and all...
I WANT
I want to open the windows
in every room,
let the stench
of last year's corruption disappear
in a blur of smoke.
I want to suddenly feel
the promise of springtime in January.
I want my children to be underfoot,
my daily sneezing
to be the worst of it.
I want to forgive all art,
to have poetry
dancing through my wits,
to kiss a prince,
have him stay a day or two.
I want to go through the new year
lead by last year's angels,
and if I'm no longer here at the end,
I want to come to you in a dream
and tell you I'm alright.
Happy 2013

Hi Brian-
Thanks, always kind...one can only hope for the best ..for you...for me...Happy New Year!
Ahh... that second stanza is lovely. as is the whole poem - beautiful creation triggered by a nasty ol' ash tray.
You did so well with a previous Berownial quiz; how about this time?
Beautiful...I had to open the kitchen window today for some fresh springtime in December...
Me too! This is lovely! All the best to you in the coming year.
This is awesome. I especially love the opening stanza.
I think about this line as I get older:
"and if I'm no longer here at the end,
I want to come to you in a dream
and tell you I'm alright."
I want to be able to do this for my loved ones.
Wonderful poem...

Beautiful. I absolutely love the 3rd stanza.
Death looms large in this , Lyn, as professor Dumbledore said " to the well organised mind, death is but the next great adventure !"
