MAGPIE...Prompt #130

                                          Image/ Francesca Woodman

Thanks, Tess, for the intrigue at Magpie Tales...

RENOUNCE

I cannot rip your womb
any more, Mother.
Another tear,
and all innocence
is lost forever.

Waiting in the deepening tide,
the ocean deceives me
with its melody,
as if life is an opera.

Venus chants her seduction,
knows the words
to thrust me on.

Can't I float back,
avoid gratitude to the giver,
renounce the life,
take away all praise?

But you're waiting
to show off the gift,
to see a new blaze
and how I burn.

Took my breath away. And with that photo -- man, what you were able to take from that! Great!

Hi Brian-
Wow, coming from you, how great is this? It seemed to have a life of its own..know what I mean? Thanks so much...

You truly made sense of this for me, with a new destroyer wanting to renounce the birth but everything conspires to continue with things as they are. It may take this, again, like youth movements in other times I have known. Thank you for this Brilliant poem!

Hi Susan-

Lynn,
I wonder if we deceive ourslves and when discovered it becomes too much to bear. Just a thought.

I was compelled, Lyn, i felt i was being born to the real world , having decided to imagine soul cor the first time. I remebered a story of an Aussie businessman, a nasty , brute materialistic type who died and was resucitated and reported " there was nothing there " . He was a complete non entity, and it scared the crap out of him cor the rest of his life. No such fate is set to befall here, methinks

Poor, poor mother..... "I cannot rip your womb anymore", but oh my, we give it our best shot sometimes, don't we? We are seekers of comfort and not always eager to light those sparks. I love this poem Lyn, thank you for sharing it. =D
