MAGPIE/ Prompt #73

People of Chilmark/ Thomas Hart Benton/1920

VERY INSPIRATIONAL, thanks to Tess, for Magpie Tales #73.

ABDUCTION

In Chilmark, every game is a trick of time.
Moments spill over boundaries
of seconds and hours.

Sometimes we live
in a painting by Benton
of strapping young men,
rivaling for glances
from flirtatious sweet things.

My brother, Fox Mulder,
one day on The X-Files,
mentioned that it was
in Chilmark,
where we were raised,

that on November 27, 1973
I was kidnapped by aliens.

The last thing I heard
as the crowd called out,
was Samantha, Samanth....
as the spaceship was sealed.

I was returned on a summer's eve,
like a Frisbee come back,
between a pond named Menemsha
and the one called Squibnocket,

ten years later when boys were now men,
and girls with tired eyes
cuddled babes in their arms.

The night hung heavy
with years passing slowly,
but for me it was just a minute before.

Fabulous write... love the attention to detail, researched well. Tied into the details I found in my search, focused beyond to another worldly feel. I always loved the X Files.
