FITTINGs
I used to be a dancer
like the Degas ballerina,
knees and joints warming up,
to perform a plie'.
Lost my footing,
knees collided,
now I'm just an artifact,
overlapping flanges,
no recovery in sight.
Patina gilds my age,
and crumbling toes
dissolve en pointe.
Joints out of kilter,
valves clogged.
Do me a favor
and pull the plug.
I'm zapped,
unhappy,
unglued,
un-tutu-ed.
