MAGPIE...Prompt #141

THANK YOU,Tess at Magpie Tales...

HURRICANE SANDY

Amphitrite,
Thetis,
Galatea,
nymphs and mermaids all,
able to unlock the ocean
into a Red Sea.

Rolling pebbles
from the foot of the deep,
a thousand years
for a handful of sand.

We'll name a new Nereid,
let her roil and churn,
a spinning tempest,
windblown,
a debutante sprite,
with a dragon's tongue,

dipping fire,
drinking deeply,
a tango,
a surge.

The traveler,
wrapped in a hurricane,
knows his refuge is the sea.

Oh beautiful...especially that last stanza. Stay dry. Stay safe.

You are having a rough time of it. I dread the wind knocking over a tall building!
Yes, the refuge in a storm is more often the sea. Wrecks happen most where sea meets land!

My thoughts are with everyone in the path of Sandy ... I have lived through three Florida hurricanes, I know the power, the devastation. I'm sitting in a Midwest airport right now, thankful I'm flying west!

Hi Friends-
So happy to have survived Sandy's wrath last night. I'm in the upper E side of Manhattan, raised elevation, so we have electricity, power. Still hoping for the best. Thanks for all your good wishes!

Theres something very Protean about this, then , they never are " just a storm" , these weather events. Sandy may be very apt ! . Big things moving in the north american unconscious sea , wonder if it will wash away the tripe you are having to endure ?

Lyn said...

Hi Kutamun-
Very big things moving in the great unconscious! Maybe Sandy will change things..more compassion? Thanks...

A very stirring read. I'm hoping Sandy and her movements will pass completely soon.

Lyn said...

To us, Mother Nature seems totally out of control - to her, it's normal and a lesson to us all that weather is so unpredictable. Well done.
