MAGPIE...Prompt #125

Chilmark Hay/ 1951/ Thomas Hart Benton

THANK YOU, Tess, for Magpie Tales....

PITCHING HAY

Hay thrown to the wind,
gold spun into daylight.
The grateful heart gleams within,
glorious ray of paradise,
ever a better morning than this?

All movement in the hillock stops.
The eyes of a rodent
lock in catatonic dread.
See me, fasten on me,
sip a last breath.

Will his darting
be swifter than my whack?
Placing the act in beauty
helps me forget.

Pull back, pull back,
you will see
the birds-eye view of splendor.

Speaking of rodents, perhaps you could go after the little green one who promises to save you up to 15 percent on your car insurance. :-)

Let's see "Whack" Not a pitchfork,
a scythe ? I have used some big ones
very rhythmical, but not so efficient- A shovel!? -Poor things...

I love that the farm field is chock full of critters, Lyn. My art instructor always nags us to include flies and mice in our paintings. And I think there was never a better morning! Just splendid, thank you! =D
