MAGPIE...Prompt #144

                                                     SQUALL/ 1986/ Andrew Wyeth

THANK You, Tess...for Magpie Tales.

TEMPEST

Flung open the door,
grabbed my binoculars,
fine-tuned to the prospect
of bird watching.

No need for
a yellow slicker today,
still wet from yesterday's tempest.

Sun, like weak tea,
paints itself into a corner,
spreading over the crazed wall.

No ships at sea now.
A blameless horizon
backing away,
heading for a smooth current,

leaving the shore
piled high with splinters.
Once had names.

Gorgeous. It's exactly like the painting. It's as if the painting wrote the poem.

Hi Linda-
Thanks so much for your kind thoughts and amazing generousity. I'm lucky to be in my neighborhood, all having to do with living in a higher elevation..that's all that it takes.

Nice. And my favorite part was

spreading over the crazed wall.

Well done! Funny how just the thought of weak tea- brings so much to light! I like how your choice of descriptions enhanced our reflection all beginning from one yellow slicker!

A wonderful write Lyn - beauty and sadness rolled into one.

"...leaving the shore
piled high with splinters.
Once had names."

Sad stuff.
