MAGPIE...Prompt 154
Central Library, Manchester, U.K./ Robin Gosnall
THANK YOU, Tess, at Magpie Tales...
Love's Leap
A word,
love,
leaps past my heartbreak,
trips at the rim of the scaffold,
tumbles over the edge.
A singular undoing
to erase that tiresome word,
that cliche',
that "love".
Without "it"
anywhere in sight,
a taste in my mouth,
like bitter tea.
Maybe honey in the comb
will sweeten my acceptance
of an ancient banality.
I thumb through the dictionary
to find another word to say,
if ever again
I find myself
in....
