MAGPIE...Prompt #128
Image/ Black Dog/ Zelko Nedic
Thanks to Tess at MAGPIE TALES...
THE REAL BITCH
A black dog
in the company of dogs.
Hecate's gone for a stroll.
Triple goddess of my earth,
my moon,
my Hades.
Paint, she says,
leaving a list of do's
and don'ts,
starting with absence:
no color.
Consider:
shade of night,
storm clouds,
a wolf's lair,
closed eyes,
old wounds.
Stilettos click the return.
Anubis, her pet,
will tattle-tale all.
Maybe she'll like it.
And maybe she won't.

Your mention of Anubis and the ancient Egyptian religion made me think of the day a modern American actress was suddenly notified that she had been elected King of Egypt. She replied: "Mia Farrow?"
excellent! Part of me thinks he painted the dog that used to be white.

Hi Kathe W.

nice...some great ref..love the ideas she gave for the colors...old wounds, now what does that look like...you want it in scab or scar...and dang tattle tale pups...smiles....
Wonderful ambivalence here, Lyn. This is so powerful. Thank you for sharing. =D

Hi Linda-

As long as he does exactly as he is told, he will be fine, but then , she wasnt exactly specific , was she?. Plenty of scope there to hammer him later , on a whim ! .
Good stuff Lyn .
