MAGPIE/ Prompt #98
River/ Marina Moevs/ 2005
WHAT AN IMAGE from Tess, for Magpie Tales. Inspirational...
REFLECTION
The morning fog casts a haze
as thick as cataracts.
I try to place the new day
on yesterday's shoulders.
Better to stand on my head
because I don't know
top from bottom,
reverie from certainty.
The lake reflects
a pretense of clarity,
an optical illusion
that a skipping stone
deconstructs.
Is rising above it
the same as escaping?

I wasn't sure if my other comment made it... so here I am again. Love your imagery in this poem. Nicely done.
Hi Margaret-
Gratefully accept both sets of comments...thank you!
if not escaping, then progressing? I like "that a skipping stone deconstructs"
Hi Caty-
I really like progressing..thank you!!
The third stanza is lovely, Lyn.
lol- I feel that way many mornings and clarity comes with coffee.
Hi Laurie-
Thank goodness for that cuppa...saved again! Thank you...
ha i dont know that they are the same...though i think at times we have to do both...yes the skipping stones often let us see what is really going on in our lives...smiles.

Hi Suz-
Thanks so much for your comment..always welcome! Aren't we lucky to be "prompted"?
"To place the new day
on yesterday's shoulders."
What we, in January 2012, are now doing.
Well expressed.
Beautiful imagery.........

Very nice. This cast me back to a reflective moment from over four years ago (http://cosmicfart.blogspot.com/2007/06/600-am-on-bird-loud-morning-sun-on.html).
Your conclusion resonates.
Now, look what you've done ... I'm going to ponder that question all day!!!
