MAGPIE/ Prompt #98

                                                  River/ Marina Moevs/ 2005

WHAT AN IMAGE from Tess, for Magpie TalesInspirational...

REFLECTION

The morning fog casts a haze
as thick as cataracts.
I try to place the new day
on yesterday's shoulders.

Better to stand on my head
because I don't know
top from bottom,
reverie from certainty.

The lake reflects
a pretense of clarity,
an optical illusion
that a skipping stone
deconstructs.

Is rising above it
the same as escaping?

I love this and the reference to cataracts. Enjoyed it.

I wasn't sure if my other comment made it... so here I am again. Love your imagery in this poem. Nicely done.

The third stanza is lovely, Lyn.

"To place the new day
on yesterday's shoulders."
What we, in January 2012, are now doing.
Well expressed.

Very nice. This cast me back to a reflective moment from over four years ago (http://cosmicfart.blogspot.com/2007/06/600-am-on-bird-loud-morning-sun-on.html).

Your conclusion resonates.
