The main floor is dominated by four working clocks housed in 14 foot high windows, which provide unobstructed views out to four points of the compass, on top of one of the tallest buildings in Dumbo, a cobblestone neighborhood that went through renewal in the 1980's.
The clocks are synchronized to show exactly the same time.
A glass-walled elevator and 3 story floating staircase lead to the top of the tower.
There are 3 bedrooms on the 2300 square foot second floor.

One wonders who will buy this "home". Someone who's probably not too affected by the current economic downturn. A major star? Sports? Rock? An oil king? As they say, if you got it, flaunt it. Well, it's not me. Not only because it's sort of out of my league,(ha), but I get vertigo just looking at the photos. Or it could be rented out for a remake of "The Big Clock".

Thanks to the NYTimes, for the info and photos.

Wow, I like it! And Dumbo is such a nice place to live. I'd love to live steps away from Jacques Torres!
But I agree with you on the vertigo.
Jennifer
Cool Photos but you're right ... who would buy it ?
Oh, Jacques definitely, yummo! It's impossible to imagine making this place homey!
Hi JC-
Thanks for visiting! I think maybe the new owners should give tours!
Wow, what a view! I'd be sitting at the window all day! Not for me, though, the ticking would keep me awake! :^)
I get vertigo, too, but I think I could swing it! This is tres cool!!!
I would!!!!!
If i could that is.....
SO UTTERLY COOL! Thanks Lyn.xx♥
Hi Alaine-
Thanks..I sort of feel that I'd be waiting for it to take off!!
Well Willow, if you take this, please invite me..I'm the one who will be clutching the walls!!
Hi Nat-
Well, good for you..this was made to sell..I'll put you down as a prospect..and do stop by my humble abode when you get here!!
Hi Lyn,
Only $25M? I felt for sure you'd be going for it. Now, if the clocks could be aligned with London, New York, Tokyo and Mumbai, I could see the point!! And do people really live in a place called Dumbo?!
I love it too,for its 'differentness' but not sure I'd want someone traipsing in and out to fix the clock. And no worry folks, someone will buy it.
Hi Derrick-
Dumbo is an acronym for DOWN UNDER the MANHATTAN BRIDGE OVERPASS. In NY, every neighborhood has a name..most have historic significance. I live in Carnegie Hill, I'm sure it must be in Wikipedia.
It would be sort of fun to hang out in the Tower..for a party!!
Hi Gaston-
I will be sure to let you know if and when someone scoops this up!!
The clocks... one could never use the excuse of being late,"I didn't know what time it was"!
holy moly! how does one live in all that space! definitely one of a kind!
Hi Jeane-
I think an old Busby Berkley movie could be filmed there!
Definitely a movie set...
Just back from my fantastic holidays in Spain and doing my usual blog round. It's so nice to see that the good quality has not diminished one bit. Many thanks for your fantastic post.
Greetings from London.
Greetings to a Cuban...
Welcome back..can't wait to hear all about it..and thank you!
This was a very fun post, I love this off-beat stuff!!
Its quite a stunning place, normally I don't go for clocks all that much (I've never been on the same time frame as everyone else)but this is really interesting! You're right though, whomever buys up this place doesn't need to worry so much about where their money goes..
Hi Finding...
Thanks so much for visiting! I daresay there are people here who live in that sort of world, and I too am glad to be able to take a look!!
I think that I would like to have lunch here but it looks to lonely for living a life. My idea of home is more organic. It does remind me of when I snuck into the courthouse and up past the restricted area to get behind the clock face and have a peek.
Hi Butternut-
Thanks..that's cute, sneaking behind the clock!
I agree, it doesn't quite have that lived in look..I hope we can get to see the "after" pictures! Will keep a lookout....
Wow! imagine living in your own clock tower! Time certainly wouldn't stand still. Imagine - moments in time! Living in the moment. Seconds tick by.
Hi Sylvia-
If I lived there, I'd never have time on my hands! Too busy neatening up!!
I'm glad you said all four clocks are synchronized. If they weren't no amount of money could get me to live there. (I have issues.) So unique. Only in NY.
Hi Karen-
You're right..only in NY, not my cuppa tea, but... Such fun, though!
