BOOM
What the hell was that?
Just a blast, don't worry...
Sounds like the big mushroom to me..
Then cover your eyes, don't look at the horizon.
The horizon just moved, it's up in the air right now...
There goes the rapture, some one's floating on by.
Boom!!
Stop saying that.
That's not me, it's eternity calling.
What if this is really the end?
Then I'll write an ode to departure...
What, poetry now?
Poetry looks good with everything...
Going out with a rhyme, but no reason?
Bombs bursting..
In air?
Yes, a roar or a whimper..
Fire or ice?
This is a duck and cover moment...
You're such a pessimist.

That was an excellent take on the Magpie # 21. Yes I think I will go out writing poetry too, I shudder to think that some times we are close to such a tragedy happening.
Prayer for peace,
Happy 4th Lyn.

Hi joanny-
Thanks..I do think that poetry is on the top 10 list!!
Happy 4th!
well done! love "going out with a rhyme, but no reason"!
Hi kathew-
Thanks..I can't seem to find a reason for anything anymore!!
Hi Lyn,
Better to go out with a bang than a whimper and ensure everyone remembers those famous last words!
Clever and so thought provoking, Lyn. I love-love "Poetry looks good with everything..." Happy 4th to you and yours!
Going out on a burst of poetry ~ sounds like the only way to go! Wonderful Magpie ...
Hi Derrick-
Bang/roar..I may not be accurate but I will make some noise.. and have a good editor!!
Hi Willow-
Yes, let's wear our poetry proudly !! And a Happy 4th to you all!!
Hi Helen-
The parade forms right here..and a mighty group we are!! Thank you and Happy 4th!!
This is my favourite post of yours so far, Lyn. The dialogue and the words are brilliant, this was a true joy to read. The two best parts, for me personally, were "That's not me, it's eternity calling" and "Poetry looks good with everything..." The first excerpt was so deeply poignant, and the second resonated strongly with my innermost thoughts.
Hi Sam-
Extremely grateful for your analysis and sensitivity..thank you so much!
oh, i really enjoyed reading your post... pessimism great stuff to the end... what if... you could also post this over at big tent poetry prompt is conversation poetry... fireworks
There's a sort of resigned wit and grim optimism in the tone of this poem that is very appealing to me. Your use of language is spare, yet very effective. As a high school English teacher, I'm a great fan of concise writing! This is my first visit to your blog, but I look forward to returning and reading more. Happy 4th!
ha. brilliant and playful...i wonder at the end of it all if i will pause to write...lol. nice magpie!
Hi one more believer-
It's fun to write in opposite voices..Dialog, I guess..
Thanks so much for the info about the poetry site..will check it out!
Hi Kathy-
So happy that you did visit..welcome! I do like to pare things down..not a big fan of excessive flowering..
This is a bit of Pinter still lurking in my mind! Happy 4th...
Hi Brian-
Thanks, Brian..I guess that I'm such a cockeyed optimist that I think the END isn't really the end!
Looking around for the fat lady!!
'poetry goes well with anything...'

Hi Tumblewords-
So glad you could "listen in"! Thanks..
what would we do with the 8 minute warning anyway?
Hi Everyday Goddess-
Very funny! Hmm..8 minutes..some chocolate!!
Lol! I love the two speakers in this poem, the way you played them off each other. 'Poetry looks good with everything,' amen to that! Great magpie!
Hi Friends-
Unable to publish incoming comments..reported it to blogspot..fingers crossed!!
It's a beautiful tete a tete (excuse the lack of accents). And this was a very elegant poetic arabesque:
'Going out with a rhyme, but no reason?'
It brought a smile to my face. Many thanks.
Greetings from London.
Hi Patience-
