FINE ART
X
Why do I look skyward
as if an accumulation of deities
await my prayers?
x
A cherub here, an archangel there,
when I catch sight of them
they are tucked into a Sistine heaven.
x
It's the art of the Renaissance
that forms my point of view.
God pointing his finger at a burly Adam
catches my breath.
x
Useless to me are tattered bibles
tucked away in drawers,
or progressions of thou shalt not,
etched in stone.
x
Parade before me sumptuous seraphs,
garments edged in gold,
x
saints pierced by poetry,
to hold my hand
as I walk through paradise.

Reneaissance art is so full and bold, isn't it? No wonder you get wrapped up in its trappings.
Hi Jane-
Thanks...I rarely know where my beginning phrase comes from...I generally just like the sound of words in my head... love poetry because it leads me on a journey I may not have known existed!
indeed! beautifully said!
Hi Jeane-
That is so nice...Thanks!!
Oooo Lyn, that's good!
Far better to raise our faces heavenward and glory in the sights!
Hi Derrick-
Thank you so much..you put it so well!!
Lyn, I am requesting permission to copy this down and tuck into an art book.....featuring the work of Michangelo! Very well said...
indeed.
Hi FireLight-
That's very nice of you..I will just ask you to include the poet's name..ME! Thank you !!
Saints pierced by poetry. There's a vision to behold.
Many thanks.
Greetings from London.
Greetings to a Cuban-
Anybody can be pierced by arrows..but poetry? That's why we write!!
Thanks...
I loved this! It is my way to look for the "shalls" in spirituality, rather than the "shall nots". I believe faith should be lifting your eyes into the hills, and not staring at prison bars.
Hi Deedee-
Thank you! As they say, the caged bird may sing, but it can't fly...
