MAGPIE...Prompt #131
Under Windsor Bridge/ 1912/ Adolphe Valette
THANKS, Tess, at Magpie Tales....
WINDSOR TOWN BRIDGE/ JACK
He rests against an arch of the town bridge.
Each night getting behind the wind,
waiting to pick out an approaching shape.
The rough granite
scrapes a stain across his back.
He prepares to shift
into his dream of flight.
A huge raven tonight,
more astonishing than a phantom,
cymbals suddenly hum some one's ruin.
An intention carries him
into each shadowy night,
thunder imprints a fresh cry.
Did she hear him
when he breathed
and stopped?
Last night, when sleep sealed lids
shut at midnight,
she leaned against the rain
sloping into her face.
Why didn't she run away?

oh yikes Jack the Ripper...good one!
wow...rather made me feel like this was a characterization of death...and its interesting to think that he remembers and thinks on his victims...
I wondered if anyone might take the Jack direction...excellent!
Hi Kathe W-
Thank you..I had no idea it would turn in this direction when I began!
Hi Brian-
Very astute of you...I saw Jack as being caught up in fantasies far from what's known. Thank you...
Hi Tess-
I had no idea who I was writing about, until he jumped me! Thanks...always happy with the bizarre!
Oooo! Dark and gritty!
Well done
Hugs

Historical figure haunts the present day? Clever.
It is cool when writing evolves into something new!- takes its own path-
thanks!
Hi SueAnn-
Thanks so much..that pic seemed so mysterious to me!
Hi Trellissimo-
That guy is on my mind..thanks for the comment!
Hi izzy-
I love it when the"art" is taken out of our hands and finds its own way! Thank you...
Ooo wicked. Works well with the art. Nicely done!
Just the right amount of creepy.
=)
Hi Dori-
I like that..thanks so much!
Hi Sue-
Thank you..don't want to get too creepy!!
Hey Lyn i think Van Helsing when i read this, thanks ! .
I suppose he is a morally ambiguous man
Spooky,:Did she hear him when he breathed and stopped?
Oh, Lyn..... a timely piece for this summer in Toronto, that began with horrific gun violence, escalated to body parts getting mailed at random and now more body parts have been discovered floating in rivers. My house is going up for sale asap. I intend to run away to the less creepy burbs. Thank you for sharing this. You have imagined the mood of the predator with gut wrenching motions.
Hi Christine-
Glad you found it spooky..just my cup of tea! Thanks..
Hi Linda-
It does seem that negative events are escalating..Where to go..certainly not a footbridge at midnight!! Happy moving...
Hi Kutamun-
Van Helsing..why not? This guy, definitely ambiguous! Thanks..
