Magpie...Prompt #123

WHAT A GREAT CHALLENGE!  Thank you, Tess, Magpie Tales.


HAM ON WRY

Listen Charlton, sweetheart, by-pass the cold buffet, the only thing left is a very dead sardine with glassy eyes.  All I got was a crab that looked like Hitchcock.  Go straight to the foie gras.  Marlon's jumping it like it's going out of style.  Then head for the hot stuff.  They'll cook your goose just the way you like it.  I even had to push Janet aside so I could take a dive into the innards.  Dumb broad is on a diet!  Eating something green!  Makes me shudder, kinda nasty, a touch of evil, if you ask me.  I told her to put some meat on her bones, or it'll be curtains for her.  If looks could kill.  After you lunge into seconds, make sure you finish with the Orson pudding, noir sprinkles on top.  Okay, baby?  Who said I'm a legend in my own mind?

    I enjoyed all the twists and turns using food and characterizations. The pushy voice in this poem rules the buffet table. Thank you for sharing this clever piece with truly funny visuals, Lyn.

    Well, it's never funny if it has to be explained, but here goes...it's pretty literal, the other actors named were in that film with him(except for Marlon who was a bit of a gourmand himself)just killing time at the buffet!! ha!! And obscure trivia ready for Jeopardy...

    I sensed something very dark , maternal and devouring about this, which i really enjoyed. Something about the connection between violence and food, i guess most of our food dies violently , nature, "red in tooth and claw "! . Thanks Lyn

    This is funny. I started reading a few from the latest Magpies. Tess is a friend.

    But then I stopped to just "take-in" the side bar stuff. Like that Carl Jung quote--my gosh, what a great quote.

    The Buddha head with Peace and Imagine made me think of Give Peace a Chance and I saw John and Yoko in bed.

    Einstein's Coincidence definition was perfectly matched with the Tai Chi symbol....as I typed that and was wondering whether to refer to it as Yin-Yang or stick with the Tai Chi Ch-uan reference it made me recall one of the other side bar quotes (can't find it now), seems like it was Sandburg?

    Oh, and that one by William Ralph Inge (never heard of him until I saw his quote on your blog and love it) is so funny and perfect.
