MAGPIE/ Prompt #65
photo/ Tess Kincaid/ Magpie Tales
WHAT A POWERFUL IMAGE for this week's Magpie Tales. A favorite saint, lead me on....
ST. MANDOLIRA *
I will be a saint one day too,
threading a needle of hope
and genuflected to.
Martyrs haven't owned this title yet,
the Patron Saint of Worker Bees
and Violins.
For the amber flow
of honey
in a hexagon geometry,
pray to me.
If you play a Stradivari,
do the same.
Saints give up their skeletons,
I pluck a string
with a sliver of mine.
My world is a reliquary,
I have holy bones too,
and bless the honeyed tea.
*Mandolira...a musical instrument.

ReplyDeleteOh, mighty muse..how can I thank you? The things you present...
There's poetry in this as there isn't in many other attempts I've come across today.
ReplyDeleteAnd you've left the piety at home too.
This I like!
Hi Friko
ReplyDeleteThanks..sharp as a tack!! Not too crazy about Piety on Parade myself!!
Lynn,
ReplyDeleteYou write the right rites whether they're song, danced or just appreciated for the images they wrought.

Wonderful take on the prompt! St. Mandolira is now my favorite!
ReplyDeleteHi Lolamouse-
ReplyDeleteThank you so much...the saint sends her blessings!!
I like it, Lyn. The flow of thoughts comes out like a delicately played arpeggio. I had a dream once about using a humurus bone as a violin bow--but your analogy is not nearly so gruesome. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteSt.Mandolira? Astounding!
ReplyDeleteHi hedgewitch-
ReplyDeleteThat flow of thoughts, ideas...from that universal consciousness, perhaps..
When I write, I depend on that..
Thank you..

Hi Stacy-
ReplyDeleteI'm more than flattered and will definitely be happy to participate...thank you!!
Hi Lyn~ This is such a creative poem! There is definitely a saintly need for worker bees...their lives are precarious in their hexagon geometry, and of course they resonate with the music of the spheres played on heavenly violins. Love it!
ReplyDeleteA lot of new learnings here. I need to come back to read it again! Here is mine: http://jaanpehchaan.wordpress.com/2011/05/14/under-the-influence/ - Part 1 of 3!
ReplyDeleteHi Margaret-
