NAUGHTY
Is an embrace with
a leather glove the same as
a bare hand caress?
MURDER
Baby lambskin glove
hides the hand that commits a
perfect bloody crime.

fascinating perspectives. wow!
ReplyDeletethese are great!
ReplyDeletedeep thoughts tenderly engulfing the hand... sleek dark leather, the murderer holding its inner secret.
ReplyDeleteIt never ceases to amaze me how you come up with so many inventive and creative ways to address the magpie/prompt. The second poem was a beauty both for content and brevity.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas (belatedly, I know) and Happy New Year to you and your family.
Greetings from London.
It's really a twist. A beautiful leather piece was only made possible through blood. Fascinating!
ReplyDeleteHi Everyday Goddess-

Hi kaykuala-
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see this through your eyes..I don't always know what I mean!! Thank you...
I love the contrast between the two pieces. Well done!
ReplyDeleteSolid, compelling writing...
ReplyDeleteOoo..."Murder" is especially nice. Happy 2011 to you and yours, as well, Lyn! xx
ReplyDeletePoetry in the form of a question is interesting. Pablo Neruda worked on it at the end of his life, in Book of Questions. It doesn't force an answer in the reader but rather an image.
ReplyDeleteI like how you've focused on what's absent in the picture - the hand - in both poems. Invariable our minds will go that way, won't it?
Together your pieces create an interesting contrast between caress and violence. All the acts of the human hand.
These short poems speak a great deal.
Happy New Year, Lyn!
Hi Berowne-

They both sent shivers up my spine but for different reasons!
