WINE AND CHOCOLATE? HEAVEN...
X
Some say the chocolate, whether a chunk, a truffle, or a souffle', shouldn't be sweeter than the wine, that there should be a sensuous tug of war, but ultimately a balance and that the darker the chocolate, the more likely you will want to pair it with red wine. A bite, a swirl of the glass, a sip. If the chocolate seems to emerge from a dark tunnel, the wine should go deep too. Don't stop to smell the roses, stop to sniff the wine.

Zinfandel, which is at times like a dessert itself, is a good choice for your sweet tooth, for chocolate. Sweet dreams. How about a Chocolate Cheese Cake with a Sparkling Rose'? Or a sliver of Chocolate Pecan Pie with a Tawny Port. Leave room for seconds. And think about this for a moment...Chocolate Souffle' with raspberries, sauce or whole, and your favorite Sauvignon Blanc or Chenin Blanc.

A bit of something luscious is necessary every once in a while. Then we will have no regrets....
just a good memory to take to Heaven!

I've always loved the pairing of red wine and chocolate. You're the first person I've met who feels the same.
ReplyDeleteGosh, I don't know which of your sins to try first!
Hi Willow-
ReplyDeleteMy sins..your sins..try them all!
Tonight I'm having Pinot Noir and Choc.Chs.cake..But then I weigh only 108 lbs. !!!
to celebrate chocolate sin Wed., I stopped in one of my fav coffee houses (an underground cafe with nooks and crannies, sofas, easy chairs and floor lamps), ordered a very dark coffee with cream and a peanut butter brownie - and then enjoyed some amazing art by a young friend - I salute you and the fab choco sin Wed. xxo
ReplyDeleteI've never eaten chocolate while drinking wine! But I had the most wonderful mug of hot chocolate the other day, full of little marshmallows and topped with thick whipped cream!
ReplyDeleteHi Jeane-
ReplyDeleteI feel that I would be very happy snuggling into that little coffee house--0h yum, peanut butter..that too!!
Hi Raph-
ReplyDeleteWe certainly know how to treat ourselves well..and we deserve it!!Whipped cream and marshmallows.. just your basic foods!
I missed chocolate sin Wednesday but I plan on making up for it with a long visit to the local candy store...maybe a Truffle Thursday?
ReplyDeleteHi Blue....
ReplyDeleteNow Truffle Thursday sounds like it should become a tradition!
Yes, you're right, and as an ex-drinker I vouch for the darker chocolate+sweeter wine combination. In fact before becoming teetotal my two favourite poisons were a cold beer in the midst of the hot Cuban summer and a nice glass of wine during our so-called winter months.
ReplyDeleteGreat post.
Greetings from London.
Greetings to a Cuban-
ReplyDeleteTruth be known..my "system" has little tolerance for any alcohol or drugs..I can just sip a small amount of wine at any given time, and am so grateful! But lucky me..chocolate..YES!
Good for you!!
Hi Lyn,
ReplyDeleteChocolate is notorious for being difficult to match with wine but you've given us a few combos to try - purely in the interests of gastronomy! I like the port idea.
Hi Derrick-
ReplyDeleteAnd for the sake of research! Port is good...
